Anti-wrinkle (or wrinkle-reducing) injections are a very effective and popular treatment to temporarily reduce lines and wrinkles on the forehead, frown lines between the brows, and crow’s feet lines at the sides of the eyes. Each day we make thousands of facial expressions, and over time, these repeated contractions of the facial muscles causes lines and wrinkles to appear on the face. It can also be used to correct bunny lines, gummy smile and on the neck.
These lines and wrinkles can be reduced with tiny injections of a prescription-only medicine called Botulinum Toxin A, following a face to face consultation with one of our doctors to assess suitability.
Botox® is the trade-name for this medicine made by Allergan, one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies. At Manara, we only use Botox® and we source this directly from Allergan’s manufacturing plant in Westport, Co. Mayo.
“Every face is unique; our approach to anti-ageing treatment is tailored to each individual to ensure the best possible results.”

Before you come for your treatment, please read our standard preparation advice. There is no specific additional preparation required for this treatment.
As Botox® has no recovery time, there is little aftercare required. For the first 2 hours after treatment, it’s important not to rub the affected areas. For the following 24 hours, avoid vigorous exercise, alcohol or extremes of heat. It is safe to fly after Botox® treatment.
It is not recommended to have any facials for a few days following treatment, however you can wear your make up as normal.
Side-effects from the tiny needles may occur and include skin redness or little bumps lasting up to 30 minutes after treatment. Bruising is rare but may occur and can be covered with concealer. Headache can occur rarely. You may have read about side-effects such as ‘heavy brows’ or a ‘frozen look’- these are avoidable and should not occur when you have treatment from an experienced doctor.
We like to see all our new patients 2-3 weeks after their first treatment to assess the results and ensure they are happy with the results. Most of our patient having regular treatment do not need an adjustment, but the option is always available if needed.
“Very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, but most of all you don’t feel rushed when discussing your treatment.”
